That said, to achieve this, we strive to breed healthy, intellegent, biddable dogs with wonderful temperaments and correct structure capable of competing in any venue, be it performance, field or conformation. All dogs used in our breeding program receive their appropriate clearances for hips, elbows, heart and eyes.

I have been active in dogs for over 15 years. In my prior life, I was heavily involved in horses, training and competing in eventing since about the time I was 10 years old. Horses and dogs seem to come together quite often, and when I decided I no longer could continue the full time devotion to the horse world, the transition to "full time" dogs came easily. My first dog as a child was a GSD, and she was a wonderful dog, willing to partake in my many attempts at training her to jump courses like a horse. As a teenager, my best friend and everyone around me had Labradors, and I soon acquired a yellow lab, and later purchased a black Lab. While still heavily involved with horses, I dabbled in obedience and agility with my black lab. We competed in obedience and earned her CD, and trained through the open exercises.

When I decided that I was ending my "career" in horses, I went about searching for another dog that would allow me to continue in obedience, and perhaps do more. Through a search for competition obedience trainers in my area, I had conversations with Cindy Williamson of Lycinan Golden Retrievers. She happened to have a litter at the time, and when I visited and learned more of her breeding, I knew I wanted one of those puppies. From this litter, I have my most wonderful girl, Darma - Ch. Lycinan's Tea Time CDX, CGC. Many, many thanks to Cindy for selling that special puppy to me, and for becoming my mentor and good friend.
